Pay to Play!!
The following are the highlights of the current administration’s Pay-to-Play roster. It was compiled from the Valparaiso City vendor list, and the Costas for Mayor campaign fund reports. Both of these are open to the public and the press (funny that the press has never covered it). It shows the amount of money these large contributors have received from the taxpayers in the last six years, in return for donations to Mayor Costas's political fund. I feel this is unethical, and if elected, I will put an end to this “Pay-to-Play” practice!
| Firm | Money received from taxpayers | Money paid to campaign fund |
| • DLZ | $1.9 million | $ 14,500.00 |
| • American Consulting Inc. | $ 866,000.00 | $ 12,250.00 *** |
| • Bakers and Daniels | $ 124,000.00 | $ 6,000.00 *** |
| • Barnes & Thornburg LLP | $ 82,840.00 | $ 6,250.00 *** |
| • Blachly, Tabor, Bozik, & Hartman LLC | $ 558,000.00 | $ 4,000.00 |
| • Cender & Company LLC | $ 327,000.00 | $ 1,450.00 ** |
** Some of this money came directly from Mr. Karl Cender, later appointed to the school board, after the filing deadline was extended till after the primary election! If you’re looking for a pattern of questionable ethics, look here and at Costas' alteration of the ethics ordinance to keep his fire chief in office.
*** These are firms located in Indianapolis which have contributed to Costas , and is the location of the “Costas for Attorney General” campaign fund. Do you really think he will finish his term if elected?
Can you say, “Self-Serving?”
We have to ask ourselves; “What does Costas really want?” or, more to the point, “Who does he really serve?”
In my opinion," Anyone that uses their elected position for personal or financial gain is a thief"
Be SURE to vote for ethical, fair, and open government on November 8th. Vote for Bob!
