Certain "people" in this community have attempted to label me as
"anti-development." This is simply not true! Without development our city
could not grow and would not be able to support itself, without some huge tax
increases. Controlled development is not only beneficial, but crucial to our community as a whole.
But . . . Our standards must be maintained and, in some cases, improved.
As Valparaiso expands outside of Center township, I feel we must take greater interest
in the needs of our citizens living in other school districts and townships in order
to improve the lives of these new "VALPO" residents with different needs.

The Redevelopment Commission is also of great importance to this community, but
it should be used to benefit the whole city. It MUST NOT be used to place us in debt
for the benefit of a few "elite" citizens.
I feel emphasis should be placed on
improving industrial and commercial employment opportunities for all of our
citizens. Beautification is a fine and lofty goal, but must not be persued at the expense of
our infrastructure expansion, and the completion of other badly needed projects.
